The Harpeth Hall School seeks a student-centered, creative dance educator who is enthusiastic about working with young dancers of all ability levels and is committed to innovative pedagogy and choreography as a part of our after school dance company program. This non-exempt, stipended position reports to the Artistic Director of Dance.
Schedule:
- Monday–Friday, 3:30-6:30 p.m. (days and hours dependent on classes taught)
Responsibilities:
- Lead rehearsals for students in grades 5–12 in ballet, jazz, contemporary, modern, and/or hip hop.
- Create and teach engaging, age-appropriate choreography that develops students' technical, artistic, and creative skills.
- Foster an inclusive, positive, and collaborative learning environment for dancers of varied experience and ability levels
- Prepare students for and participate in the annual spring dance concert, including rehearsals and performances.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience teaching dance and/or choreographing for school-age students in a studio, school, company, or comparable setting.
- Strong experience in one or more of the program's dance styles: ballet, jazz, contemporary, modern, and hip hop.
- Ability to create effective choreography and provide engaging, student-centered instruction to dancers of varied skill levels.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, along with a passion for working with students in grades 5–12.
